style blog edit II marimekko

Dear followers,

my mom has been a fan of the style of marimekko ever since.
If you didn´t know marimekko is a finnish design house established in 1951. They sell home furnishing and textiles. Through famousness in the US they got famous worldwide.
1964 the famous Unikko print (large flowers) was promoted.

Throughout my whole life I´ve come across this flower print. My mom had several pieces, so many that I can´t even remember. They were always a style piece in our houses. Later I also had a few fashion pieces in the style of marimekko.
Actually I still own a piece which is a bikini and was featured by H&M. One of the first brand collabs from H&M.

Until now my mom is highly inspired by the style. And I can introduce you now to a few pieces in her apartment.

creative collection II JEY

Meine Lieben,

Diese Woche habe ich nur zwei Fotos von meiner kreativen Ma.
Sie liebt es sich ihr Wohnzimmer gemütlich zu machen. Und vielleicht seid Ihr genauso. Aber vielleicht gibt es den ein oder anderen, der verzweifelt nach Inspiration sucht und also hier sind sie. Die von meiner Ma selbst zusammengenähten Kissenbezüge mit Spitzendetail.

Ich werde Euch jetzt nicht ein detailliertes Tutorial dazu geben können. Dieser Blog ist nicht unbedingt ein Lifestyle Blog, der Euch das Übliche serviert. Hier gibt es keine Quinoa Rezepte (obwohl...). Dies ist der Blog, den ich im Namen meiner Mama schreibe.

Sie ist so kreativ, aktiv, wie ich es mir nur wünschen kann zu sein. Und ich werde so viele sinnlose Posts über ihren Krimskrams machen wie ich nur kann. Und ich sei verflucht, wenn ich mir nicht diese Mühe machte.

Oh, das wurde jetzt wieder deep.

Nun, den Stoff gibt es zur Zeit oder vielleicht sogar für längere Zeit in einem wunderschönen Geschäft in Hamburgs Schanze. Das Geschäft ist in der Susannenstraße. Da müsst ihr mal hin. Die Susannenstraße ist nicht sehr lang. Es ist eine schöne junge Gegend. Ich finde den Shop auch nicht wirklich online. Jungs, nicht alles kann man online finden. Geht raus an die frische Luft. :)

welcome to my mom´s blog

A lot of times I´ve been thinking about sharing all that my mom loves.
She´s obviously one of my biggest inspirations in life and here it comes.
I´m going to show you a lot of #tb throwbacks, because obviously she has inspired me in the past as well as she does in the present.

I´ll start with the photos she sent me just today.
It is finally beginning to be full spring. The sun is out for several hours in a day and a lot of trees and bushes are blooming.
I might follow this blog entry up with a blog entry on my site to show you the blooming flowers in my area.
I´ve done this several times on my blog. Just choosing one day in the spring/autumn/winter and dedicating photos to nature.

so, here we have Syringa (lilac). As far as I know it has been always my mom´s favorite flower/plant. I remember times when my sister and me would go out for a walk with scissors to collect some branches of the bush. We would have to act quickly because most of the Syringa would be private property and if we´d get caught in the act of violating the plant... trouble.

But the pot of lilac in the apartment and the excitement linked to it was always beautiful. My mom is a great interiour decorator. She knows exactly how to highlight flowers in the flat. I try to copy all the time.
